Calling all U of T students: join us for a fun event that integrates sports, games, and meaningful climate conversations with new people!

Join Youth Climate Action in Toronto for a joyful, nourishing event that integrates sports, games, and meaningful climate conversations with new people. Immerse yourself in an atmosphere of camaraderie, where students can freely express their thoughts and feelings on city climate action and climate justice. This event offers a unique blend of fun and purpose, without the need for formalities. Plus, there will be snacks, LOTS of snack.

WHAT’S IN STORE

  • Basketball and Badminton Come shoot some hoops or play a little badminton
  • Carnival Games like giant jenga, giant connect 4, cornhole, and more
  • Climate Conversations Weโ€™ll have prompts for laidback climate conversations while you move and play
  • Snacks, lots of snacks!
  • Community-Building Connect with fellow students who share your passion for making a difference, including graduate, undergraduate, and postdoctoral students, and chat with city staff working on climate. Exchange ideas, forge connections, and explore potential collaborations. Or just play and snack
  • Accessibility Notes: The Athletic Centre has an accessible entrance and an elevator, and the Sports Gym is wheelchair accessible. For any other access needs, please email us at youthclimateactionintoronto@gmail.com.

This event is part of a series of in-person and online events that the Impact Lab at the University of Toronto is organizing as a part of the Youth Climate Action in Toronto project (or YCAT), funded by the City of Toronto and the University of Toronto Climate Positive Energy Initiative. Weโ€™re running a series of engagements and consultations to develop a Youth Climate Action Engagement Strategy that will be adopted by the City of Toronto. Each event invites participants to share their thoughts and ideas around their visions of and needs for a climate just future in the city of Toronto. These insights will be used to inform research and policy by the Impact Lab, the City of Toronto, and other program stakeholders.
