COMPASS 2025
July 22 - July 25

Climate Positive Energy, in partnership with the Department of Economics and the School of Environment, is pleased to support COMPASS 2025, which invites interdisciplinary research on sustainability with a focus on how computing and moves toward sustainability are embedded in and shaped by specific local contexts – computing in place.
Rooted in the broader discourse of sustainability but also open to questioning its prevailing narratives, COMPASS welcomes work that critically examines how technology intersects with social, environmental, and economic systems. This year’s theme, computing in place, encourages a deeper, locally situated perspective on how technology shapes our relationship to place.

The organizers are especially excited to engage local communities, non-profit organizations, and civic groups across Ontario in impactful and creative ways. COMPASS 2025 offers a range of opportunities for you to showcase your work, connect and create partnerships with global and Canadian organizations in technology, business, education, and the nonprofit sector, and expand your networks. They are offering a limited number of free and discounted registrations to non-academic participants who are based in Ontario.
This is a unique opportunity to highlight the incredible work being done at the local level across our region and contribute to a global conversation on sustainable futures.
Participation opportunities for non-profit, industry, or civil society include:
